How to post ices from Demon to a permalink

  1. Click “Add Photo/Video”
  2. Next, click “Upload Photos/Video”
  3. Next, select the picture you want to upload, and click “open”.
  4. Then Click “post”.
  5. Rick click on a date/time stamp on the post, and select “copy” (red arrows on the picture – either arrow will work).
  6. In the fight tab of Mafia Demon, click the “ices” tab, then click “options”.
  7. Click “add comment”, then post the permalink in the “post as comment” field, then select which fighting tab you want the ices to come from (“ices 1”, “ices 2”), and the number of messages per post (i.e. 4 ices per post).
  8. Next, go back to the fighting tab you want the ices to come from, and select “ices 1” or “ices 2” (it must match the selection on step #7).  It is possible to run the fight list (fight tab #1) posting ices to “ices1”, and those get posted to a permalink on the MWRT War page, and a bucket (fight tab #2) posting ices to “ices2”, and only the proper ices are posted to the specific page.

Chrome – Esstential Add-Ons

What is a profile for Chrome?  A profile is like a unique installation of Chrome, and allows you to have multiple configurations of the Chrome browser.  It is recommended that for each Facebook user that you utilize, you have a separate profile setup.  I would also suggest that you have a separate profile for browsing the web and Facebook (separate from your gaming profile) to keep the cookies, temporary internet files and other cached items to a minimum for your gaming profiles.  This ensures that your gaming profiles run at top performance.

Chrome has built-in profile switching – you may have noticed the new button next to the minimize/maximize/close buttons in the upper right corner of the Chrome browser.  When you click this icon, select “switch user”, and the profile manager will come up.  You can add people and customize the name and icon used for each profile.

Other essential add-ons:

TamperMonkey           This is a Chrome add-on that allows you to install and manage scripts within Chrome, and easily enable/disable and manage them.

Context Menu URL Shortener     This is a Firefox add-on that allows you to create shortened URLs for posting links for Facebook.

Lightshot      This is a Firefox add-on that allows you to create screen-shots within your browser and edit/save them to your computer.

MWAddon     This is a add-on for your browser that has a variety of user scripts that help you along with Mafia Wars.

ClickTrap Remover and Shortlinker 2.2     This fixes the copy/paste issues with game links allowing you to copy/paste the game links to multiple places.

Mafia Demon      This is a premium script ($150 for a lifetime license, $20 for a 30-day license) that has a variety of user scripts to help you along with Mafia Wars.

Spockholm Mafia Toolbar      This is another collection of scripts that are extremely helpful with game play.

Facebook Script Helper      This is another helper for Spockholm Tools.

Important things to remember:

  • Backup your settings in your scripts often.  Computers crash, and with them go your settings…  I suggest using Google Drive (this is a free tool from Google to save files).
  • Clear your browser’s cache easily with CCleaner (Crap Cleaner).  Before you run this tool – remember to backup your script’s settings – they will be lost if you don’t!

How to keep Mafia Wars running fast

  1. Use Chrome or Firefox for a browser – and install ProfileSwitcher (Firefox) or Profile Manager (Chrome) to create and switch between profiles.  Other browsers work – however, compatibility is always confirmed with Chrome and Firefox first…..
  2. Create separate profiles for each Mafia Wars login – and these profiles should only be used to play Mafia Wars (do not browse Facebook or any other site – only launch Mafia Wars).  You should create separate profiles for browsing the web and accessing Facebook.  This keeps temporary files from bogging down the game.
  3. Backup your profiles.
Chrome is located in C:\Users\>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data
    Firefox is located in C:\Users\>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
You should copy the profile folders to your “Documents Library” (create a folder called “Chrome Profiles” and/or “Firefox Profiles” and copy your profile folders to that directory.
  4. When you first create a profile, create a backup labeled “fresh install”, and then create a backup weekly of your profile labeled “weekly backup”.
  5. Restoring profiles is simple – you simply copy the data back to that folder (overwriting all files).  This will have your bookmarks, passwords, add-ons, scripts and even the script data (you don’t have to create separate backup files).
  6. You can restore your profiles from one computer to another – the only thing that must be done is to create the profiles before you copy the data to that folder.
  7. Limit the number of addons you install into a browser – each addon takes up memory and cpu usage.
  8. Limit the number of startup items on your PC – again, each item takes up memory and cpu usage.
  9. Backup your profiles, then run CCleaner.  You can restore your backed up profiles and not lose anything.
  10. Suggested setup for multiple profiles is 8GB RAM and a core i-3 processor or better.  If you have 4GB of RAM, consider disabling AERO and other visual experiences in Windows (this takes up about 2GB of RAM).
  11. Suggested internet speed is 10Mbps or greater (this will handle up to 8 profiles without a problem – Mafia Wars doesn’t use a lot of bandwidth).  The higher speed connection you have, your game will remain stable.
  12. Use OpenDNS and/or Google DNS instead of your default DNS servers.
  13. Make sure that you have proper Virus protection, updates are installed (browser, OS, virus protection, flash, etc…) and you run defrag on your hard drive (If you have Windows 8 – you don’t need to run it – it is automated).
  14. Other suggestions – get a flash drive or external hard drive to store your backups.  If your computer dies – it makes it really easy to restore your profiles.

Everyone has their “theories” – but a clean system, with minimal temporary internet files and addons will give you the best performance.  Zynga, Mafia Demon, Mafia Wars Add-On, Spockholm and other programmers base their performance on this….

Backing up your settings

  • Mafia Demon – on the main options tab, there is “settings manager”, click the button.  A menu appears – click “backup settings”.  Click “select all”, then click backup.  Click the “copy” button when the backup settings screen appears.Next – create a new document (I suggest using Google Drive and making a text document – it will never be lost – even if your computer blows up).  Paste the text in the document (CTRL-V).  Save the file and give it a name (I usually name it “MafiaDemon20141007.txt” where the date is embedded in the file name.  This way I can have several backups).
  • Spockholm – in the search box – type “backup-a-nator” and click it.  Click backup your settings.  PLace check marks in the items you want to backup (HINT:  toolbar is all the addons you have added – back this up and Checklist if you use it).  Click in the white box, type “CTRL-A” (select ALL) and “CTRL-C” (copy).  Next – create a new document (I suggest using Google Drive and making a text document – it will never be lost – even if your computer blows up).  Paste the text in the document (CTRL-V).  Save the file and give it a name (I usually name it “Spockholm20141007.txt” where the date is embedded in the file name.  This way I can have several backups).
  • MWAddOn – Green Arrow > Configuration.  On the General tab, there is a “Local:  Export” button, click that, and choose “Save File”.  Your browser will download a file.  Rename that file to “MWAddOn20141007.txt”.  Next, copy that file to your Google Drive (if you have it).
  • The restore functions you do just the opposite – you open the backup file (spockholm/mafia demon) and type “CTRL-A” and “CTRL-C”, then go to the program and click “restore” instead of “backup”.  Paste the text in the box (CTRL-V).  MWAddon has a feature “Local:  Import” that will ask you for the location of the file – just point to that file and click ok.
  • Suggestions – if you have several profiles – backup each profile in their own folder using the profile name for each folder.  Google Drive rocks – if you don’t have it – you should get it.  It is free, and you can get access to this data from any computer, anywhere in the world
  • Backup Firefox Profiles:  In the folder:  C:\Users\”USERNAME”\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (where “USERNAME” = your login name to the computer), the profiles are stored.   After you create a profile and put all the scripts in and restore your data – you can create another folder in that directory called “backup”.  Right click on the folder to backup, and click “copy”, go to the backup folder, and right click and choose “paste”.  Do this for each profile. To restore the profiles – exit out of Firefox.  Go to the profile folder, then delete the profile.  Go to the backup folder, right click and choose “copy”, then return to the profile folder, right click and choose “paste”.  Go back into Firefox and your profile is restored to the original.

It is possible to copy these folders to Google drive – however – if you don’t have that exact profile installed on the computer, it won’t restore (i.e. on another computer).

  • Backup Google Chrome:  Same as firefox EXCEPT the folder is located at:  C:\Users\”USERNAME”\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data.

Bookmark Synchronization

With each new profile you create, or browser you install, it can be time consuming to copy all of your bookmarks to the new installation.  With Xmarks, you can easily synchronize your bookmarks between browers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera) with a simple click of the button.

Password Manager – LastPass

Creating a good password, and then actually remembering it can be really tough.  With virtually every website requiring a login, you can accumulate many passwords to remember.  Using the same password is never a good idea, as once one account is “hacked”, all of your accounts can be hacked.  LastPass allows you to utilize one username/password to access all of your website’s login names and passwords in one convenient place.

Also, with LastPass, you can transfer all of your usernames and passwords to any computer you use by simply installing the plugin and logging in with your username/password.  All of your accounts are kept safe with encryption on the internet…  So you never lose another username/password again.  LastPass also creates unique passwords that meet top security ratings, so all of your accounts are safe.
